Several thousand years after sparda raised his sword against the unholy world and saved the human race, he was convinced that evil forces had been confined, and he joined mankind himself. Shortly afterwards he fathered dante, a half human-half demon son infused with the power of a supernatural lineage.
However, dante was not the only son sparda had sired. As devoted as dante was to defeating the forces of evil, his twin brother, virgil, was consumed by power and upheld the legacy of his sinister ancestors. One moonlit night, a mysterious tower materialized beside dante's "devil may cry" investigative agency.
On the rooftop stood his brother along with his inhuman minions louring dante into a confrontation. Devil may cry 3 reveals a lot about dante’s mysterious past, and while he does look younger, according to capcom, he “still has his stylish swagger and rock star good looks”. Dante can be equipped with up to four different weapons at a time, from his arsenal of handguns, shotguns, tricked out guitars (lol) and more.
This third game also brings a new gameplay system to the mix, allowing players to use a short-range, long-range, defensive or evasive styles in combat. Each system has it’s own features, and you can choose which to power up. Evasive style allows dante to dodge enemy attacks, even by running up walls, while close-range maximizes the impact of special melee attacks.
Long-range lets dante blow away enemies with his fire arms, both pointing in different directions at once, and counter attack and guard help against strong enemy power.
